Chinese Director of Fisheries visits Scantrol
A Chinese delegation in the country to connect with the fisheries science community, dropped a visit at Scantrol. On the agenda was the recent orders of iSYM to two new Chinese research vessels, and the Deep Vision technology that has spurred considerable interest in the research community of their home country.
Leading the delegation was the Director of the Chinese Bureau of Fisheries, ZHANG Xianliang, along with a selection of members representing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the marine research community and prominent private companies in the fisheries industry.
“We were very happy to receive the Chinese representatives as it gave us the opportunity to talk them through Scantrol’s recent orders of iSYM to two of their new research vessel,” says Managing Director at Scantrol and Scantrol Deep Vision, Helge Hammersland, who received them in Bergen.
The delegation expressed a particular interest in the Deep Vision technology and was happy to hear that marine research institutions in their home country are interested in acquiring this state of the art sampling technology.
The Institute of Marine Research in Bergen has already purchased two Deep Vision systems and, later this year, another system will be delivered to a new research vessel in South Korea.
“Asia, and particularly China, is a very important market for us where we have had a strong focus in recent years. Therefore, meeting this delegation was especially valuable,” explains Hammersland, who hopes that a Deep Vision system will be sold to China in the near future.
